Professional Counseling
Master’s level, experienced therapists provide individual, couples, and family counseling services.
Therapy should be viewed as an invitation to reach your full potential and to cope better with the problems of life. Our therapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change. These techniques are designed to help you improve your mental health and to help you improve family relationships. The overall goal is to increase your sense of well-being and to help you learn to better manage the discomfort or distress that can occur when facing life’s problems.

Parenting
Family Counseling Service offers individual, family and group parenting counseling and education.
In addition, we offer Parenting Wisely, a self-directed parenting education program. If you choose to participate in this program, you will first have an orientation session with a counselor where you will review your current parenting style, your struggles with parenting your children, and where you are introduced to a computer-based parenting education program. After completing the computer modules, you will meet again with the therapist to learn how to practice implementing these new parenting interventions in your own family.

Wisely program, including research into how effective the program can be,

Parenting Wisely is offered for parents of Young Children, and parents of Adolescents.

Domestic Violence Services
As families face increasing stress in every day life, incidents of domestic violence occur with more and more frequency. Family Counseling Service’s domestic violence treatment programs, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Division of Prevention, strive to help clients prevent future violence in their relationships.
Services are psycho-educational in nature – they are intended to help participants learn about the causes and behaviors of domestic violence, and to learn positive, non-violent replacement behaviors.
Domestic violence programs are 26 weeks long. Services begin with a 3-week orientation and evaluation period. After the third week, participants begin regular group treatment.
Treatment groups can help clients who are either court-ordered or self-referred. Available groups include:
Men, Anger, Recovery, Support (M.A.R.S.): partner abuse treatment for men
Female Anger Intervention & Recovery (F.A.I.R.): partner abuse treatment for women
Anger Management: help men manage the feelings of anger (who have not been abusive to a partner)
Caring Dads: for men who have had incidents of domestic violence against a child
Nurturing Moms: for women who have had incidents of domestic violence against a child
Teen M.A.R.S.: partner abuse treatment for male teenagers
Teen F.A.I.R.: partner abuse treatment for female teenagers
Group fees vary depending on your income.

If you were arrested for a DUI and you don't know what to do…
- Don't panic.
- Don’t postpone acting.
- Call us right away at (630) 844-2662 to schedule the court-required drug and alcohol evaluation. The sooner you make an appointment, the sooner you will be ready for court.
We can save you time and money and we can help you get your driving permit.
Anyone arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs (DUI) must undergo an alcohol and drug evaluation before a judicial driving permit (J.D.P.) can be granted by the Court, sentencing can occur for the DUI offense, or restricted or full driving privileges can be granted by the Office of the Secretary of State.
When the evaluation is completed, a classification and a recommendation will be determined by the evaluator and recorded on the Alcohol and Drug Uniform Report form for the Court or the Office of the Secretary of State. This form will then be sent to the Court or given to the defendant to take to the Office of the Secretary of State for the driver's license hearing.
The classification will be one of the following:
- Minimal Risk
- Moderate Risk
- Significant Risk
- High Risk
RECOMMENDATIONS
The minimum recommendation to the Court or the Office of the Secretary of State related to each classification is as follows:
Minimal Risk
Completion of a minimum of ten hours of DUI risk education.
Moderate Risk
Completion of a minimum of ten hours of DUI risk education and a minimum of 12 hours of early intervention provided over a minimum of four weeks with no more then three hours per day in any seven consecutive days, subsequent completion of any and all necessary treatment, and, after, active on-going participation in all activities specified in the continuing care plan, if recommended, following completion of the early intervention.
Significant Risk
Completion of a minimum of ten hours of DUI risk education and a minimum of 20 hours of substance abuse treatment and after discharge, active on-going participation in all activities specified in the continuing care plan.
High Risk
Completion of a minimum of 75 hours of substance abuse treatment and, after discharge, active on-going participation in all activities specified in the continuing care plan.
In all cases, it is at the discretion of the Court to determine what type of recommendation, if any, will ultimately become a part of the sanction for the DUI offense. However, if the alcohol and drug evaluation is for the Office of the Secretary of State in relation to the return of full or limited driving privileges, the defendant will be required to complete any recommendations contained in the alcohol and drug evaluation.
The defendant has the right to refuse the completed alcohol and drug evaluation, to withdraw from the process at any time, or to seek a second opinion by obtaining another evaluation. However, any information provided may be released to the Court or the Office of the Secretary of State, upon request. If the evaluation procedure is not completed, notice will be sent to the Court or the Office of the Secretary of State.
Family Counseling Service is licensed by the state of Illinois as a recognized DUI evaluation and treatment site. Staff are trained to complete DUI evaluations and to recommend the most appropriate level of care for you or your loved one.
Our goal is to provide prompt, respectful service and to help clients learn to make better choices to avoid similar problems in the future.
Evaluation Fee: $75.00
